Śaṅkara, 'auspicious' (M. W. ), a name for 'Śiva', and intp. as [lang id =1028]骨鏁 bone-chains; name of [lang id =1028]商羯羅阿闍梨 Śaṅkaracarya, the celebrated Indian philosopher of the eighth century A. D. who is known as a great opponent of Buddhism.
